Signia Hearing Aids
Signia Hearing Aids St Louis
In 2015, Sivantos Group introduced Signia, co-branded with Siemens. From their release, Sivantos Group says: “With Signia, we want to create a brand that is more human and personal, while building on the Siemens values of technological innovation and quality. For the years to come, this dual branding will allow us to leverage the best of both brands, appealing to a broader demographic, which will be the basis of our future growth.” Signia is just one of the digital hearing device manufacturers we provide at our hearing centers in St Louis
Introducing the Primax
Primax is Signia’s first hearing aid, and the most advanced to date from Sivantos Group. Primax is built on the success and innovation of the Siemens Binax, which was the first hearing aid to outperform normal hearing in challenging noise situations. The Primax offers wearers better hearing than those with normal hearing in challenging listening environments. It also has been clinically-proven to reduce listening effort throughout the day.
A 2015 study from University of Northern Colorado performed speech testing with participants wearing Primax hearing aids. Results showed that two features, SpeechMaster and EchoShield, revealed a significant reduction in listening effort, providing a natural and easy listening experience for Primax wearers.

Primax hearing aids are available in three technology levels, 7px, 5px and 3px. From Ace primax™ Cellion and Pure primax™ RICs to the Motion primax™ standard BTEs and Insio primax™ ITEs, there’s a hearing aid to suit all tastes and every hearing loss. Plus, with its latest CROS Pure solution, primax also offers wearers with single sided hearing loss ( unaidable hearing loss in one ear) easier and balanced hearing.
Siemens who are now called Signia do things a little differently from the other manufacturers, while they have a platform (the Primax) which splits into three technology levels. They name their hearing aid styles differently. Let’s talk about them and how they fit into the range.
Signia Receiver in Canal Hearing Aids (RICs)
Signia offers three receiver in canal hearing aid types in the Primax range, the Ace, the Pure and the Cellion:
The Latest Made For iPhone Hearing Aids
Signia is the latest hearing aid brand to introduce a Made For iPhone hearing aid to their line-up. The device focuses on more than just connectivity though, it is the first hearing aid to utilise the functions of the iPhone to deliver a better experience. The device is based on the Pure RIC hearing aid.
Pure 13 BT Primax Hearing Aids
The Signia Pure® 13 BT px is the first Made For iPhone hearing aid technology to come from Signia. They say that it will deliver uncompromising sound, industry-leading connectivity, and revolutionary remote hearing care, along with great battery life. Wearers will be fully connected to their environment, each other, their iPhone® and to their hearing care professional. The devices will be introduced worldwide in May 2017 and are based on the Primax platform. They will be available in three levels of technology, the 7px, the 5px and the 3px.
The devices represent a few firsts for the industry, they were the world’s first telehealth-supported hearing aid with iPhone audio streaming capabilities. They are the first hearing aid to use iPhone motion sensors to improve hearing in certain situations and the first hearing aid to provide both “high-definition binaural hearing” and Bluetooth® audio streaming (from a connected device). Signia have chosen a size 13 battery to power the devices which should mean decent battery life.
The Pure® 13 BT will stream audio directly from iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices using the Bluetooth® low energy (LE) standard. This will enable high fidelity stereo streaming with reduced energy consumption. Signia have also retained their own wireless radio on the devices, this is quite important, it means that when you are streaming audio from your phone, you won't lose the benefit of the ear 2 ear communication. Signia’s ear-to-ear (e2e™) wireless system is used to provide better spatial awareness and speech understanding, so even when you are streaming audio, you will still get the benefits of that.
Using The Motion Sensors
This is an ingenious strategy, people frequently move while they are speaking, whether walking, or jogging. Signia decided that it would be a good idea for their hearing aids to react dynamically, adjusting to the changing listening situation. As we said, the Pure® 13 BT is the first hearing aid to utilize the iPhone motion sensors to deliver input that allows adjustments in sound processing based on your activities. Signia say that the devices understand when a user is in motion and for the first time ever this data will allow them to deliver optimal hearing in that situation. The hearing aids understand they are in motion, and will automatically adjust to better hear a conversation partner at their side or from the back while maintaining awareness of environmental sounds like sirens, approaching vehicles, or pedestrians.
The new myControl™ App is made specifically for Pure 13 BT hearing aids. It offers a range of advantages beyond direct streaming of audio. It acts as a remote control for quick and easy changes to settings like volume and programs, and delivers advanced adjustment options to the user for personalization of sound. The new app will allow you to make personalized adjustments to programs, volume, microphone directionality, and treble/bass, during audio streaming. Pure 13 BT hearing aids will help users look after their hearing health. Similar to a fitness tracker, they create a personal sound profile over time based on noise exposure, so you can protect your hearing health.
The Pure® 13 BT is the first Signia hearing aid to utilize TeleCare 2.0. This upgrade introduces additional capabilities such as advanced data logging, secure end-to-end encrypted data transfer, and improved remote hearing aid adjustments. The professional can now adjust your hearing aids remotely across four frequency bands. You can interact with your provider via the Signia myHearing App, which is available for both iPhone and Android smartphones.
Light and comfortable, Ace primax is the smallest in their family of RIC hearing aids. It is an ideal solution for first time users offering both discretion and functionality. It can deliver real power and comes in a tiny form.

Signia Behind The Ear Hearing Aids
Signia offers four Behind The Ear hearing aids in the Primax range:
Motion Primax Hearing Aids
Motion primax™ are fully featured BTE instruments with directional microphones for true binaural hearing. There are four different types in the Motion range, the Motion Sx, the Motion SA, the Motion S and the Motion P which is the most powerful. No matter what you need from a BTE device, the Motion Primax range has it covered.
Signia In The Ear Hearing Aids
Signia offers four In The Ear hearing aids in the Primax range:
Incredibly small and almost unnoticeable, the new Insio primax hearing aids are tailor-made for you and offer the ultimate in discretion and performance. All Insion Primax models from ITEs to the tiniest IICs can be remotely controlled. The Insio Primax range has four models, the Insio Primax IIC, the Insio Primax CIC, the Insio Primax ITC and the Insio Primax ITE.
Insio Primax Silk
Signia have had instant fit custom hearing aids in the past, however they say that Silk is the first completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aid that’s both almost invisible and ready to wear. The device is a new offering on their latest primax chipset and are designed to fit up to 80% of all ear canals. While the device is labelled a CIC, for some lucky people it is actually an invisible hearing aid.
The device is a modular type hearing aid that uses a flexible Click Sleeve to provide an immediate and comfortable fit. There are several sizes of click sleeves to fit as many ears as possible.
Instant Fit Invisible Hearing Aid (almost)
The Click Sleeves are made of soft silicone and are available in six different types which allow the device to fit in the majority of ear canals and to fit the majority of hearing losses. With the right Click Sleeve in place the hearing aid sits quite deep in the canal making the device either invisible or almost invisible.
Because Silk is powered by Signia’s Primax platform, users of the device can benefit from all of the outstanding features of that platform including their binaural OneMic directionality system and all of the other features that the Primax chipset offers. The device is also wireless so you can use your smartphone to adjust your hearing aids via the Signia touchControl™ app, and wirelessly stream virtually any audio device with the optional easyTek™ accessory.
SpeechMaster – Improved Speech Recognition
Speech recognition is one of the biggest challenges for people who experience hearing loss. SpeechMaster utilizes a number of algorithms to enable wearers to focus on the voices they want to hear. With the elimination of background noise, SpeechMaster aids the wearer’s listening with digital noise reduction, directionality microphones, and amplification.
SpeechMaster uses three main technologies: noise reduction, directionality, and steering amplification to focus on the dominant sounds the wearer wants to hear. Along with SoundSmoothing, sharper, louder sounds are softened. With improved speech recognition, Primax wearers have an effortless hearing experience.
HD Music – High Fidelity Listening
For some hearing aid wearers, the experience of listening to music may be compromised due to loss of the richness of sounds. For music lovers, Primax is equipped with HD Music, three settings to enhance music appreciation. HD Music enhances higher frequencies so that Primax wearers may experience a richer sound, no matter what the listening situation. HD Music may be programmed to “Live Music,” for any concert, indoor or out; “Recorded Music” for listening in the home; and a specialized “Musician” setting for music lovers who also play music.
EchoShield – Providing Comfortable Listening
With amplification, certain sounds may cause discomfort in certain acoustic spaces. EchoShield protects sounds, eliminates reverberations, and reduces listening efforts in difficult acoustic spaces, such as atriums, hallways, lecture halls, and places of worship. Primax’s EchoShield feature eases listening effort for wearers by softening sounds and preventing over-amplification. EchoShield balances and protects sounds that wearers want to hear while deflecting louder sounds.
TwinPhone provides two wireless features in one hearing aid. With a wireless connection, Primax wearers may stream conversations, music, and other media from their phones directly to their hearing aids. TwinPhone also reduces the feedback one may experience when talking on the phone by using a magnetic connection. This helps to prevent feedback that would otherwise muddle the listening experience.
Other Styles & Features
AS we said, Signia Primax is available in the following styles: Ace Primax, Pure Primax (receiver-in-canal), Motion (behind-the-ear), and Insio (in-the-ear). Primax hearing aids are easily controlled with the touchControl app and remote control, and connectivity to other devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) through the easyTek app. Primax hearing aids also offer tinnitus therapy (static noise and ocean wave sounds).
Primax is also available for people who experience single-sided hearing loss, with CROS and BiCROS hearing aids. Equipped with ear-to-ear (e2e) technology, sounds are picked up from the unaided ear and fed to the hearing aid in the other ear, to provide wearers with a fuller sound picture.
